Examples of Implementation

• The gas guzzler and luxury taxes on certain vehicles in America are similar to green taxes. Already present are other Pigovian taxes on cigarettes, alcohol, and other goods that are frowned upon by society 
  
• Norway had its first eco-tax in 1971 on sulphur dioxide, and the number of similar taxes has grown immensely since then (Norwegian site)
  
• Gemany has a long history of green taxes, probably linked to the representation of the Green Party in the Reichstag.
• Austria, Portugal, and the Netherlands all have progressive car registration taxes that exact more money from owners of inefficient cars.
